Words from PASA President
Very happy to be here and with the results so far of the event, which is turning out to be excellent. Congratulations to Chile on a job very well done. The only complaint so far is that there is not enough English being spoken by contest announcers.
Changes to BGM Agenda
“Presentation of Changes in Rulebook” was covered during AGM which was deemed an AGM matter.
Changes to Constitution
Since PASA’s Constitution was written in 1992, it has never been reviewed, modified or updated. After an extensive review, PASA’s EC motions to update it with the changes presented.
First motion presented by Brazil:
Motioned Brazil, second Chile
To change serving terms from 2 to 4 years like Olympic cycle.
IN FAVOR AGAINST
13 1
PASSED by majority.
Second motion presented by PASA Executive Committee: To remove number 3 under article number 7, “Former Presidents: All former PASA Presidents automatically qualify to serve on the board and attend PASA meetings and Assemblies. All former Presidents will have a voice but not a vote.” PASA has studied several Constitutions including the ISA’s Constitution and have found that there is no clause like this and that it will eventually cause a lot of conflict when you have many ex-presidents to deal with.
(PER): “There shouldn’t be any problem for ex-presidents to be cc’ed on all matters.”
(JAM): “Will that negate [any ex-president] from sitting on a board? Would you not qualify to sit?”
Maile: “All ex-presidents, myself included, will be cc’ed on emails, receive the monthly newsletter, be invited to all events, and be included in every way; they will just not sit in at EC meetings, nor participate in Executive Committee matters.”
Motioned Brazil second Chile

Revising the Changes of Constitution
We’ve changed negative notes that may have been true once upon a time, but times have changed and PASA would like a more positive Constitution, and small changes, like from he to he/she.
Questions on changes: none.
