The Brazilian University Surfing team swept the title this past Sunday, the 27th, in the III Pan American University Challenge at the Beach of the Future, in Fortaleza, Brazil. They did well in the International Challenge defeating the team of Portugal. The victory was taken by Cearense natives, Phelipe Maia and Rafaela Bahia, components of the Brazilian delegation. As the technician of the Brazilian team, João Carlos Fera, who also is of Ceará, said, " This was a nice victory, it showed how much University Surfing has gained in skill in last years ", this indicated Fera.

In the final men’s heat Phelipe Maia surfed against another Brazilian: Renato Coutinho, of Espirito Santo. The native of Ceará killed it with notes of 14,75 against the 7,4. In the women’s it was also a Brazilian that won with Rafaela Bahia that beat Gabriela Silveira, of Rio Grande of the North, with 7,5 points against 5,75. Final scores for teams, Brazil easily beat the Portuguese team with 71,9 points against 51,8.

" The waves were not the best, but nevertheless we were able to manage the best results. I am very happy with one more title ", affirmed Phelipe Maia after receiving the champion’s trophy . Raphaela Bay, women’s champ, also demonstrated her satisfaction for the victory. " Nothing better than to gain a title in my hometown. Once again, I had the happiness to represent my state and country and I obtained this conquest ", said Raphaela.

" Again the title was for Brazil, closing so a great international event. Now the Brazilian team is going to think about the Pan-American University Championships, that will be held in July, in Caracas, Venezuela ", declared Ailton Júnior, the President of the Brazilian Association of University Surfing (ABRASU).

The III International University Surfing Challenge has the support of the State Government of Ceará, for the Office of administration of the Sport, Municipal Town hall of the Fortaleza, for the Office of administration of the Tourism, Brazilian Confederacy of Swell, Brazilian Association of Surfing Universitário, Federation of Ceará of Surfing, Miscellany of Radio of promotion and newspaper O Povo and was realized by the Pan-American Association of Surfing and Association of Ceará of Surfing Universitário.

La selección Brasileña de Surf Universitario facturó en este el domingo pasado, día 27, el tricampeonato, en el mar de la Playa del Futuro, en la Fortaleza, hizo bien en el Desafío Internacional de Surf Universitário derrotando el equipo de Portugal. La victoria se quedó para los naturales Cearenses Phelipe Maia y Rafaela Bahia, los componentes de la delegación Brasileña. Los dos ganaron sus baterías en el masculino y femenino. Como el técnico de Brasil João Carlos Fera quien tambien es de Ceará. "Esto era una victoria bonita, lo que esto mostró cuánto el surf de universitario Brasileño ha ganado en la técnica en los años pasados", esto indicó Fera.

En la batería final del masculino, Phelipe Maia corrio contra otro Brasileño: Renato Coutinho, de Espíritu Santo. El natural de Ceará destrosó con notas de 14,75 contra los 7,4 del otro. El final femenino, también era Brasileño con Rafaela Bahia que gano de Gabriela Silveira, del Río Grande del Norte, con nota 7,5 contra 5,75. Resultados final por equipos, Brasil ganó facilmente del equipo portugués con la nota 71,9 contra 51,8.

"Las ondas no eran las mejores, pero aún así esto dejó para lograr hacer el mejor resultado. Soy muy feliz con uno más título", afirmó Phelipe Maia después de recibir el trofeo del campeón. Raphaela Bahia, campeóna femenino, también demostrado su satisfacción por la victoria. "Nada mejor que ganar un título en mi casa. Otra vez yo tenía la felicidad para representar mi estado y país y conseguí esta conquista", dijo Raphaela.

"Otra vez el título era para Brasil, cerrándose tan un gran acontecimiento internacional. Ahora el equipo Brasileño va a pensar en el Panamericano Universitário, que va a ser disputado en julio, en Caracas, en Venezuela", esto declaró Ailton Júnior, el presidente de la Asociación Brasileña del Oleaje Universitário (ABRASU).

“Este evento que foi un desafio de las Americas contra Europa, foi super importante en plantar la semilla de este tipo de evento en Europa y eventualmente en el mundo” comentó PASA Presidente, Maile Aguerre.

El Desafío III Internacional de Surf Universitário tiene el apoyo del Gobierno del Estado de Ceará, por la Oficina de administración del Deporte, Ayuntamiento Municipal de la Fortaleza, por la Oficina de administración del Turismo, Confederación Brasileña de Oleaje, Asociación Brasileña de Surf Universitário, Federación de Ceará de Surf, Mezcla de Radio de promoción y periódico O Povo y realizado de la Asociación Panamericana de Surf y Asociación de Ceará de Surf Universitário.
