PASA GAMES PANAMA 2022 HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED

Event starts tomorrow with the SUP Surf competition from 9:00am (local time)

An emotional Opening Ceremony marked the return of PASA events after a four-year break, in a gathering of the countries of the Americas in peace and harmony thanks to surfing.

A total of 234 athletes from 17 countries of the Americas will be competing for the individual Medals and the Title of Team Champions of the Americas, in four different disciplines: Open, Longboard, SUP Surf and SUP Racing, both in men and women.

The venue, Playa Venao, will be packed with talent with Olympic athletes, World Champions, Pan American and Latin American champions.

This afternoon the Opening ceremony was held with the participation of the Deputy Administrator of the Tourism Authority of Panama, Denisse Guillén; the Honorable Mayor of Pedasí, Miguel Batista and Deputy Erick Broce.

The activity began with the Diablicos Sucios de Diógenes Paz dance, followed by the traditional Ceremony of the Sands, where two representatives from each country poured sand from a beach in their countries.

During his speech, Mayor Batista indicated:

We hope you enjoy our waves, our district and all the attractions we have. I thank everyone who is accompanying us and the organization for making this event possible. We know that in the long term this will generate economic resources for our district. They are at home, thank you all!

Deputy Broce said:

“Panama is a blessed country that has had this potential to develop such a noble activity with high economic impact in each region that develops as surfing, so the province of Los Santos, district of Pedasí welcomes all of them. you with much love”.

Deputy Administrator Guillén said:

“May you be an example of enthusiasm with your energy after a very hard time in all our countries, but here you are with a powerful message of friendship, celebrating our oceans and our future. Thank you!”

And for the closing and officially inaugurating the PASA Games Panama 2022, the president of PASA Karin Sierralta indicated:

“We thank all the organizers and people who have made this event possible, Patrick Castagnet and Tuti de León from the organizing committee, the president of the Panamanian Surf Association Roger Castrillero, the ATP for believing in surfing as a tourism tool. sustainable to Pandeportes, the Municipality and all the sponsors”.
